he highly versatile Marathon 8K centrifuge can accommodate a variety of rotors and tubes, making it the ideal choice for labs requiring a dependable general-purpose centrifuge. This unit can handle tubes from 0.5 to 100mL, so you can use it as a microcentrifuge or for biomedical and research applications. It can even perform microhematocrit determinations. And its compact size and brushless motor let you set the unit on virtually any worktop without causing a noisy distraction.The control panel lets you set operating parameters and monitor them during the run. Using the SPEED knob, you can set rotor speeds from 0 to 8000rpm, creating centrifugal forces up to 6580xG. When the run begins, actual speed is displayed (in 100rpm increments) on the four-digit LED readout. Run time can be set from 0 to 15 minutes in 10-sec. increments and 15 to 60 minutes in 30-sec. intervals. Once you begin a run, the time display counts down, showing the time remaining in the run. You can also press the HOLD button for continuous runs and the display will show elapsed time. The Model 8K also lets you control rotor braking at the end of a run. A knob on the control panel lets you choose from settings ranging from MIN (no brake is applied—the rotor coasts to a stop) to MAX (the maximum level of braking occurs, stopping the rotor in the shortest amount of time). Lets you protect separated samples from turbulence and potential resuspension.Several safety features are built in to protect you and your samples. A lid interlock prevents the lid from being opened before the rotor has stopped at the end of a run. An indicator light on the control panel signals when it's safe to open the lid. And a sensor continuously monitors the rotor to ensure the load is in balance. If a rotor imbalance is detected, the unit automatically shuts down and an error message is flashed on the control panel.Accepts a wide variety of rotors and tubes. You can choose from fixed-angle, swinging-bucket, or microhematocrit rotors. And several of the rotors can be adapted to accept a variety of tube sizes. Rotors and accessories are sold separately; The Model 8K features a stainless-steel rotor chamber with a large opening for easy loading and cleaning. It's housed in heavy-gauge steel with a baked enamel finish. CSA approved.
